Which issue? I must've missed that.

Oh, well, I backed everything up recently before nuking and reinstalling the entire damn system (which, oddly, didn't fix the problem, unless one or more subsequent updates did it!), so I might just give it a try over the weekend.

SP1 is perfectly fine on my desktop, yet to touch lappy but i have no doubts it will be fine on that too.

I will be sending back the voucher in PC Pro and wait to get the SP on DVD from M$.

In the meantime I will keep watching this thread for any horror stories. Thanks people.

Does this make it worth upgrading to Vista now?

I wouldn't upgrade to Vista for the sake of it. I have it on my new laptop, and it looks really nice (It makes OS X look a bit boring). I like it, but functionality wise, I don't think there are substantive improvements over XP. Not enough to shell out for it anyway.
