Re: Stupid Councils

We've got 2 main bins (black for normal rubbish, green lid for recyclable stuff) and a blue tub for glass. There's also a brown bin for garden waste, but you have to pay for that.

The black and green lib bins are collected on alternate weeks, the blue tub once a month and I'm not sure about the brown bin since I don't have one.

Re: Stupid Councils

Locally we can recycle

Paper
Catalogues
Junk mail
Magazines
Newspapers
Telephone directories (not Yellow Pages)

Glass
Bottles
Jars

Metal
Aluminium & steel cans
Tins, food trays & foil
Household batteries
Mobile phone batteries (But we are not allowed rechargeable batteries)
Metal lids from jars
Milk bottle tops
Aerosols

Cardboard
Brown corrugated card
Cardboard packaging
Greetings cards

Plastics
Carrier bags
Plastic bottles
Plastic containers (e.g. ice cream)
Yoghurt pots

Textiles
Old clothes
Shoes & trainers
Towels & blankets
(Textiles must be clean & dry)

We can have as many boxes as we want too. They will take up to 12 bags of garden waste free but this goes to landfill or (stupidly enough ) you can pay £30 and have garden waste collected fortnightly which goes for composting and only up to 4,000 households can do this although a lot less actually do.
