The alternate ending is much better than the actual one and is what i was expecting to happen, why they didn't use it i don't know.

There is not one on the R1 single disc version you have to buy the 2 disc special that has the ending and a different version. Same is true with the R2 however there is no mention of the alternative ending although the different version is mentioned so Id gather its on the R2 2 disc special

Well I've just got the audio book (having not read it before - in print either I mean).
It's going to be a long time since I've seen the film before I've read the book.
Hopefully it won't spoil the film too much

For some reason this film escaped me until today (which is freaky as the last post was exactly a year ago today in this thread). I think it was really good, if not a little scary for daytime viewing. The dog was cool, apart from when he had to kill it - proper made me cry
