SBS 2003 problem

Hi All

I have just changed to Virginmedia Broadband and I am having a few issues with internet connectivity for a MS SBS 2003 setup.

The network looks like this:

SBS 2003 standard (Two Nics, Nic 1 LAN, Nic 2 Internet)

Belkin Router F5D5231-4, DHCP Disabled on Router and left to SBS to control.
Firmware Version 3.01.03

Cable Modem as supplied

4 Clients, (3 wired, 1 wireless via Belkin Access point.)

I have internet access from the SBS Server, 2 wired clients, 1 Wireless client but not 1 more wired client.

All this was working before I moved to VM and added the router.

I would be grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction.

Regards

Billy

Re: SBS 2003 problem

Where is the router in your network, between the modem and SBS Server internet side NIC, or between the SBS server network side NIC and the other computers?

Re: SBS 2003 problem

Thanks for the reply

The router is between the Internet Nic and the Modem.

Re: SBS 2003 problem

Normally then you'd allow the router to have DHCP active and assign IPs to all the devices connected to it including the NIC#2 internet card of the SBS. The SBS would only issue DNS to the devices on it's LAN NIC#1 card side. You can use fixed IPs for the devices if that is easier. Normally you need to ensure the IP range for the Internet side and LAN side of the SBS are different to avoid clashes.
