Well I have rung VM four times and keep getting told that I am on 4meg and I will be upgraded soon, they will not listen to what I say, oh and I am only about half a mile from you, off Old Church Rd.

im affraid i dont agree entirely, yes i agree to a sample being upgraded first (ie the trial) and after that its the quicker the better to get the rest upgraded. Im my experience with rollouts, having customers on two levels of service causes more problems than the phased rollout solves

The "schedule" doesn't say anything about Gloucester - mind you, I am on Telewest / blueyonder.. does that make a difference?

Why would it be useful? It's a free upgrade and when it happens, it happens.

That would normally be true of a normal network, but because the VM is a legacy network they all could react differently. They could do a small trial before the upgrade was announced in each area, but thats still not guaranteed.
I think they are being overly cautious, but they have announced that broadband is their 'hero' product so would be embarresing if the network crashed from an upgrade, especially before to 50mb rollout

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
it would even more embarrasing if it crashed because of the 50mb rollout.

STM
On HERE they've now adding the following paragraph:
Quote:
|
The updated traffic management policy is now in place across the network. The policy for the 10Mb profile of the ‘L’ broadband package is rolled out as the package speeds are increased from 4Mb. More information can be found at www.virginmedia.com/evenfaster on the timescales for the rollout.

I am on a set top box and i think i can only expect 6-8mb anyway, apart from a few dodgy days with high gaming pings no problems. perhaps this will be the start of my troubles.
As for it being a FREE upgrade well i suppose it is but other places are offering 8mb much cheaper than my £25 4mb connection. hey ho here we go.

Hi I have just gone onto 4MB, and agee companies are offering faster speeds at cheaper prices, but they are down phone lines.
I live 3 miles from the exchange, and would never get near the 8MB speed at that distance.
I just left Manchester to move to Bournemouth, wonder where they are in the list?
