BT Broadband Billing Q...

My mate has been disconnected from BT Broadband, and is now being charged the full contract amount in one lump sum request.

What I am wondering, is if there are any ways to get the service back to the "Pay Monthly" option that it was?

Will BT accept a minimum payment to have the services reinstated, and then continue the Monthly Contract that was originally agreed?

Im not too sure about the ins and outs these days at BT but I am pretty sure it makes business sense, for BT to take a reasonable amount for whatever is owed to them, and then once that amount is dissolved, then the Monthly Contract can resume.

BT have said they want the full Contract (12 Month) amount upfront, and then, and only then, will they consider starting a brand new account, with brand new charges, and a brand new payment plan, thus meaning that £400 is going to go to the company for having no service whatsoever.

Virgin have done this with me, in which they request the amount outstanding in the last bill. They dont disconnect me until a week before the next bill is due to be produced, and even then, they give you chances to pay. Dont BT do the same? They didnt even collect their equipment!

Re: BT Broadband Billing Q...

Is your mate still in a 12month contract with BT Broadband?

If this is the case then BT as part of their Terms and Conditions state that they will charge the remaining contract term costs (as most ISPs do!)

They may allow multiple payments to settle the account but I doubt they would allow the monthly payments to continue as usual.

That is between BT and your mate though.

BT won't collect their equipment because even if it was "given" it was paid for by the customer as part of the monthly payments, and so your mate owns the equipment and some of the payment will recoup the cost of that equipment

Re: BT Broadband Billing Q...

So what case does he have, if, say, he pays what he owes them?

Will he get his services put back on for the agreed amount of time?

Re: BT Broadband Billing Q...

Is it he or BT that's cancelled the contract?

If BT have cancelled it due to non-payment then he would have to ask them what their stance is on it. I would first check BT Broadband's Terms and Conditions though too.

If it's he thats cancelled it for whatever reason, BT are under no obligation to re-instate any services.

I just canceled my BT because we was moving and in the new house, there was no over head cable & BT wont £130.00 to fit a new line, get bent! lol

Any who I rang up retentions (150) who kindly canceled the contract and sent my finaly bill! I would reccomend doing that and just sweet talk em.

Re: BT Broadband Billing Q...

BT Cancelled it, because he Defaulted.

I say "he," it was his other halfs Bank Account, and she took all the money out, not leaving enough for the DD. So it defaulted.
