A friend recently got an Onn 32" LCD from Asda, not sure what they paid for it, but to honest the picture is terrible.
Blurring and juddering on all but the slowest of movement on screen, picture is so soft with SD pictures from Virgin (they don't have HD so can't comment on that) and as for the black levels forget it, it doesn't get anywhere near black.

Makes the picture on my 7 year old CRT look blummin' fantastic!

But hey, they seem happy with it, but I know I wouldn't be.

I'm currently considering getting a 32" LCD (don't have the room for anything bigger), and if I convince myself to do it, I'll be getting this one:

Can get it for around £500
My parents bought an LCD with built in DVD player and out of the box it looked aweful. Having run through the THX Setup the screen looks pretty good, not as good as CRT or Plasma but for the price good and well it is more portable and takes up less space.

So get you StarWars or Incredibles or another disc with the THX setup on it, pay your friends a visit and set up the contrast and brightness, colour balance and sharpness etc of the screen properly and it will look so much better.

Grass suddenly started looking like grass, not infected snot, that was the transformation on this screen.

We returned two Hanspree sets and one Samsung set, 32 inch and 37 inch respectively. We gave all the sets a couple of weeks to bed in but couldn't ever get the sets correctly set so we were comfortable with them. Ordered a 32" Teco (£300) from Micro-direct on recommendation and have never been happier. Ending up getting a 42" as well and a friend bought a 42". All the sets are perfect, superb at SD (well compared to others we'd tried) and very capable at HD. They're not as pretty (frame-wise) as the Samsung or Hanspree and I can't find the remote codes but for the price paid I'm happy.

Thumbs up Re: Which is the best 37' inch hdtv to purchase?

Took delivery of the Panasonic TX-32LMD70 today, and all I can say is WOW

Only hooked up my Sky+ (not HD) so far, and the picture is absolutely stunning, it's amazing.

So clear, bright wonderful colours, and gets as near to black as makes no difference, no motion smearing that I can see, certainly not on normal programs, not watched any sport on it yet.
Only picture tweaking I've done was to turn off the dynamic mode, made the colours too bright for my liking.

It's in a totally different class to the "Onn" tv my friend has.

Got it for just under my limit of £500, and would highly recommend this to anyone.

I'm thinking of buying lcd tv, glad I found this forum.
I've looked at a lot of screens in the last couple of months and would agree that the branded units are consistently better viewing than generic / superstore models.
However with a limited budget, I accept I may have to compromise and the Technika 37-907, (currently
