Hmmm, a "scandal" for Red Ken exposed by a right-wing newspaper. Is there an election on the horizon?

If there is a scandal to be exposed I really couldn't care less who exposes it -right wing, left wing or monster raving looney. As I said, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Ken made me laugh the other day when he referred to the London Evening Standard as the "London Evening Boris" when a question was put to him about something that they had reported.

Re: Red Ken's Head of Equalities & Policing under the spotlight?
Intriguingly, having been told by the Met that they didn't think there was anything for them to investigate, Red Ken is requesting they proceed with a full investigation into the allegations of wrongdoing. Of course he may just want his mate's name to be cleared once and for all but some are claiming it has more to do with being seen to be taking a tough stance on abuse of the system just before the election......

Incog how does it affect me you or anyone else that doesn't live in london being honest. As for the londoners on the forum i can only sympathise with your poor selection of candidates.

Well many of Red Ken's actions might not affect you directly but some of his unpopular tax raising ideas could be coming your way very soon. Red Ken was voted in more through apathy than anything else. I can't recall the turnout figures but they were very low in most boroughs IIRC and that coupled with a quick glance at the list of alternative candidates (which the public DIDN'T select BTW) probably explains why he got in and has stayed in.
Of course he also played a major part in securing the 2012 Olympics for London some of which will be paid for by your tax £££ so there's one massively expensive direct consequence for you.
Also there are millions of people who commute into London and don't live here but are directly affected by what he does in terms of transport costs, congestion charging, business rates etc.
Of course none of this means anyone has to care about anything - there are a large number of people in London who don't know or care who their Mayor is and they have more reason to worry about it than most.

Re: Red Ken's Head of Equalities & Policing under the spotlight?
I actually dont mind Ken. He has personality and charisma, puts up a good fight, and I have no issues with the congestion charge. Furthermore I dont think congestion charge and 'emmission taxes' would go away if Ken wasn't voted in.
My oyster card provides me relatively cheap transport around London, and I love the pedestranisation of Trafalgar Square.
