Portable Divx Player
I'm thinking of getting a portable, i.e. handheld, DivX/media player for watching on the train in the mornings and evenings (I tend to stand for the journey, so I'd be holding it in my hands).
Has anyone got one that they recommend?

What exactly do you plan on watching on the train?

Just to clarify, I don't want a dvd player - I want a hand held hard drive/memory card player.

I try and avoid apple - yes, they're nice, but you pay a premium for the name - and that creative one has a bigger screen, for less money - and I've always been happy with the creative items I have bought.

Re: Portable Divx Player
If it were my money and I had to stump on something, it would be the Archos 705 wifi. Apparently, it supports divx and xvid natively.
I've never used one so I can't give a personal recommendation, but they've always looked good on the websites i've seen.

Bit more than I want to pay, I'm really looking at 300 max.
Thing is, I keep getting mixed reviews about the archos range, various complaints about the software, and the way (for some) you have to pay extra for divx, and a web browser..

Re: Portable Divx Player
Why not go the whole hog and get an iphone. That way your not carrying around a phone and a media device. That's 2 things you have to remember associated leads for etc. A 8gb iphone would be under your budget and as a coder you'd be able to use it for testing as well. With free access to cloud wi-fi hotspots and edge you could also watch unlimited youtube if you had not media loaded to it.

yeah, but then I'd need to change networks (or hack the iphone) - and to be honest I prefer the idea of having the 2 devices separate?
