Hi to all

We have had our Belkin Product since early august 07 and have sucessfully ran our home desktop pc off it and anyone else who has come into the house with a laptop.

Our friend realised that our network wasn't secure so he took the router away and secured it.

The laptop (i am on now) is working fine but the desktop pc will not connect to the internet.

When I switch on the desktop pc it states that it has found some wireless connections but when you try and connect it states that windows cannot configure a wireless connection.

Have you put in the correct security password to allow you to connect to your wireless router?

If your friend took it away, he probably enable WEP or WPA wireless security and this requires a password in order for computers (laptop & desktop) to conenct to.

when we swtched on the laptop we connected to the network and put in the password and it worked straight away.

The desktop pc doesn't even allow us to get that far and put a password in, as stated the computer tells us it has found networks but will not allow us to view them.

I have just been into the network connections and there is a red cross in icon. I have checked the physical connections in the back of the pc and it all seems to be ok.

Do you think I will have to taken my desktop downstairs to the router and go through the process again?

The think that is puzzling me is that nothing has chnged upstairs on the desktop but we cannot view the networks available

What OS are you running?

Try dropping into device manager and see if there are any red crosses or yellow exclamations there under the sub section, Network Adapters.

The network card is either incorrectly installed or disabled.

A yellow exclamation mark or red cross signifies that the card is incorrectly installed; you should follow the manufacturers’ instructions to reinstall the
card.

A red cross indicates that the card is disabled. To enable it, click the right mouse button on its entry in the device manager and select “Enable� from the box that appears.
