Linux or Unix servers? PHP compatible?

Hi - just wondered if anyone knew whether the servers VM are using are Linux or Unix? I need to run a PHP script and needed to know which version of PHP they are running if at all? Tried TS - and as you might guess they didn't have a clue...

Thanks!

C.

Re: Linux or Unix servers? PHP compatible?

However, I would strongly suspect that all serverside scripting on user homepages has been disabled.

No scripting support on user webspace at all.

http://www.digitalamit.com/kb/kb/1.html

That site will explain how to test for the PHP version. That is if PHP is installed at all.

Re: Linux or Unix servers? PHP compatible?

What version of PHP are you running?

Version 4.2.2 This version negates the need to also run PHP3, as all PHP3 functionality is backwards compatible in this version.

this bit makes me think it was a copy and paste from Telewest's website as it's never been available on NTL and PHP is up to version 5 now, there is no real reason to mention PHP 3

Re: Linux or Unix servers? PHP compatible?

Yup did the tests and the servers kindly gave me the option to download the php file instead of gracing me with their current php compatability status...

Ahh well.

Will have to host the site elsewhere.

Thanks for the info though guys!

Re: Linux or Unix servers? PHP compatible?

in the future if you want to find out what php version your server is running, simply create a php file with the following in

Code:
<?php
phpinfo();
?>
upload that to your server, then visit it in your browser and it will tell you ALL the info about the installed php version (of cause if the server dosnt have php at all then it will just display that as text, or offer the file as a download)
