v+ and SignalLock?
V+ techie setup screens :: Signal Lock Status = Unlocked (in red)
What's that mean? Is it an error? Any way connected to the problem of me not being able to get any on-demand services even though thtis is the 5th V+ box I have had? Is it also connected to the fact that "return path is on" in these techie screens but that I have an IP address of 0.0.0.0 and the "on line" lamp at the front of the box is flashing?

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
You've got a lousy quality cable connection, judging by your online percentage. Need a tech out. There's an IP waiting for you when it's fixed, I even know what it is (cos you must have got online long enough for it to be allocated).

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
This could be a couple of things.
First off is the box working? Have you been watching TV with it? If so it could just be the fact that the default frequency hasn't been set in the Diag screens.
What region do you live in?

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
I'm in London N5.
I can now watch live TV - for an hour or so after this latest box was installed, I couldn't change channels or access any menus.
But none of the on-demand services or interactive services work at all.

I've had 3 engineers come to the house of late. Each has replaced the box and/or the smart card. None have done level checking, none have checked the little green box outside and none have been concerned with doing anything other than putting in a new box and scurrying off!

The latest box that was put in this afternoon did initially have a solid "online" lamp for 10 minutes or so. But that was before any "hit" was sent to it from VM to allow the box to show TV. Since the hit, the online lamp has been flashing.

The default frequency (screen 1 of 12:installation pre-hit) is set at 411.00 MHz. I can also see, on that screen, that the modulation error ratio for tuner A, B and C often dips into the red.

I'm going to call the Swansea-based customer service centre in the morning. What should I be asking for? I'm loathe to get yet another standard engineer out, who will no doubt change over the box and get back in his little white van.
Should I be asking for a full cable inspection, from the green box outside, through to the kit inside, to fully check the signal and error levels?

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
Well, I contacted the Swansea-based customer service centre this morning, explained the on-going issue and was then connected to someone else (a regular customer service person, I think). They took the details and said that I would be called back by a technical person within three days of that call. Well, having reported the fault initially two weeks ago and never received any type of technical-person call-back during that time, I don't really have much hope!

Go into the settings menu of the Home screen and to Technical stuff.
Go to the bottom of page 2 and tell us what the signal level reads.

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
When you look at the engineers screen do all the tuners show green?
It looks like you 2nd and 3rd tuners are not getting a signal somehow.
At the top of the first page it will show you a default frequency. `if it isn't on 666.750 try changing it to that. You may also need to change the option second from the bottom on that page too. There will only be two options available when you change that one. One will be 6887 and a forget the other. But you will want the other one i think.
You need to get all the tuners to show green and the click save. Click ok. it will reboot after about 30 secs.
All this is assuming you are on Bromley. If not and you are on langley then:
Default freq = 643.000 and the second one is 6887.

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
It does look like the box has not been set up for the area you live in

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
how do i get the 3 tuner boxes to go green? as soon as i start to change the def. frequency all the tuner go N/A
---------- Post added at 23:24 ---------- Previous post was at 22:29 ----------
Anyone know how to change the Symbol Rate? It is the 4th field on the first diah screen, but I can't get to it - the field above is Qam type and pressing the cursor Down button on that field jumps over Symbol Rate to the Save Data button...
---------- Post added at 23:43 ---------- Previous post was at 23:24 ----------
I presume all of this is what the on-telephone "technical" 2nd line support person would be able to correctly configure from their end for me? I've read elsewhere on CF that people with a splitters with with 7 and one 3.5 outputs could never get on-demand and that is exactly what the last lot of engineers installed.

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
Don't change the frequency or symbol rate. This is nothing to do with your problem (and the info Jonnymeg gave you is completely wrong for your area. )
BBKing gave you the correct answer in post #2. Get a tech out.

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
I've had a tech out. Two of them. Both did bugger all other than put in a new box and then scarper off. Both were insistent that they weren't allowed to check the levels, cables, etc. as that wasn't on their list of jobs. And both were obviously eager to get home for the day.

Re: v+ and SignalLock?

Re: v+ and SignalLock?
*sigh* Just gonna have to wait for this "technical person" to call me back. Maybe Xmas 2008 will be here before that happens.
