Smile Noobie here :-( Help please !!

Hi, i want to go onto a wireless network at home. I need to connect my pc, ps3 and laptop. Can you give me some advice as what i would need etc.

My pc and laptop are used quite alot and my kids are always on the ps3,(online gaming). Would i need a really powerful router for my cable broadband.

All in all, i need to know what model to buy to ensure that all 3 items can run at the same time. Sorry to ask the world, but i really have no clue.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Noobie here :-( Help please !!

1st of all

okay the router...where is the pc located compared to the Virgin Modem?

if thats close I would keep that wired as the laptop (if its recent) has wlan in there and ditto with the ps3, so there you should be fine.

for routers itself it just depands on how much you want to spend.

most here swear on Linksys stuff or netgear.

Sorry to be thick , but i currently have to take the ethernet lead from my pc out of the virgin modem to plug the ps3 ethernet lead in.

My dell dm061 desktop is plugged into the virgin modem. I have to swap the ethernet leads to use them if and when. My laptop is yet to be used, it is a dell inspiron 1720.

Help please.......

Most here I think would recommend a Linksys WRG54 router. If it's all new to you have a look at this Linksys webpage for an overview http://tinyurl.com/2b9p7t (warning, lots of Flash so it may be slow to load)
