New Xbox 360
Morning,
Did anyone read about a possible new version of the 360 to come out this year?
Also how does one make sure when buying a 360 that it will have the newer CPU (65nm i think) over the 90nm options
Thanks in advance

Re: New Xbox 360
The new falcon chipset is powered by a 175w power supply not 203w, it says on the box. Plus all new xbox's that leave the production line are the new chipset so a new version will definately be the falcon. hth.

Re: New Xbox 360
Do you mean the Elite? If so, that is already out, and according to http://llamma.com/xbox360/news/insid..._360_elite.htm, possibly (although they aren't sure) uses a 65nm CPU.

Re: New Xbox 360
There's another rumour going around that the so called "ultimate" X-box was pulled due to the recent developments in the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray tug of war.
There should however be another SKU released around Q4 this year incorporating a 65nm GPU. This is of course supposed to be the cause of most RROD failures.

Re: New Xbox 360
As an out and out gaming console I think the 360 currently has a significant edge when you take into account the maturity of Xbox live and the sheer number of titles available.
On the other side of the coin: as it's looking increasingly likely that Blu-Ray will come up trumps in the HD video format war and with more games titles becoming available the PS3 will definitely be a more attractive prospect over the course of this year. Sony will definitely have clawed back a fair bit more of the console market share by next Christmas.
It'll be interesting to see whether or not Microsoft will feel compelled or even forced to accelerate the development of their next console for release before the end of the decade.

Agree 100% almost. Think you have summed up this console/HD war better than anything else I've read. Well Put

Does that mean a new power supply all together (eliminating the BRICK) or it just simply takes less juice to get it flowing?

No, sadly the 'brick' is still included.
