I am currently using a USB cable modem on my desktop computer on VM broadband and i'm thinking of getting a laptop soon. I was wondering which was the best way to setup internet on it, if i go wireless what do i have to buy or do Virgin Media provide the equipment? Any help would be much appreciated.
You need a wireless router. Your desktop computer will need to be plugged in with an Ethernet cable to the router. Also the router will need to be plugged into the modem via Ethernet. Your modem does have an Ethernet port right? The laptop should have wireless built in nowadays so that should be fine.
it all depends on if wifi is on by default if it is you can access the router unsecured via the laptop. If worst come to the worst just plug the router into the laptop as its mobile it wont matter
