PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

Hi all, I am new to this forum and would like some help.

I recently changed the batteries in my virgin tv remote. Because my set top box was not picking up the signal from my remote (would not flick through channels, adjust volume etc.)

Changing the batteries seems to have had no effect, I still can not use my remote??

Is there any way to fix this problem???

I have tried resetting my box and that has had no effect either. It is a virgin media v box, pace model I think.

Any advice??

to the forum, does the light flash on the power button on the remote when you try giving the box a command?

Re: PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

Hi and Thanks, the remote can not be more than 4 months old? Can they break that quickly?

The power light does flash red when I press buttons on the remote. But the box does not respond at all?

Re: PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

Nope no energy saving light bulbs in this room, I have also just found out that this remote can control the other set boxes in my house, so I think the remote is fine.

None of the remotes work with the box I am having this problem with, Could it be the box that is the problem?

looks like it probably is the infrared that has blown on the box. can you change channels using the buttons on the front of the set top box?

Re: PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

the only thing i could suggest would be to move one of your other boxes into the room you want to watch the film in and keep it there until you can get VM out to give you a box swap

Re: PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

Have you an LCD tv?. I had the same problem, until someone suggested I turned down the backlight of the TV. Which did the trick.

Re: PLEASE HELP-Virgin TV remote

I believe the infrared can be temporarily disabled on the box. I believe you press some of the buttons on the front of the box in a particular order. This is probably what has happened. It can easily be turned back on.
Sorry that's a bit vague, but I do not know the exact combination. Somebody here must know.

But it's definitely true!
