Question Re: v+ install

Hi all cant seem to program my v+ remote to adjust the tv volume, i followed the instructions in the help menu, i couldnt find my type of tv. I rang 150 from my virgin phone and they gave me 11 codes for philips tvs they said they are the same as my LG tv (LG37LC2DB) these codes didnt work. They said if these didnt work it wasnt possible i would have to use my tv remote to alter the volume. Can anyone help me? or is this true?

Try Goldstar codes (0008) worked for me.

LG = Lucky Goldstar

Yes. The volume control only affects the analogue outputs. The HDMI carries digital audio - what you get out is exactly what goes in.

Re: v+ install

It apparently was a design decision not to make the box volume control change the HDMI output, it is not a technical limitation of the V+ box

The SkyHD box allows the base volume over HDMI to be altered, same as the normal boxes allow it over RF/Scart

the adviser told me that you can alter the preset volume of the v+ box using the code 0683

That only works on SCART or RF connections. doesn't do a thing via HDMI

Re: v+ install

When you had your V+ box fitted was it connected juts by a HDMI lead or a scart lead or both. My engineer did own up to never connecting a HD TV to a V+ box before and on leaving stated that both leads had to remain connected. My brand new 1080 Toshiba now informs me via the V box that I cannot watch Lost repeats in HD as my TV is not HD ready.

HELP

Steve

Re: v+ install

I installed a new DVD recorder yesterday as I had to remove the old one to fit the V+. When connecting it up I noticed both HDMI and scart leads connected. In this state I was able to show the HD channels but in any case I removed the scart lead yesterday and have no problems whatsoever. Watched HD Wild hogs yesterday.

The HD channels have to be initialised by VM.

Once you've set it to HDMI, you don't need to leave the SCART connected. But you may as well in case you ever get HDMI problems.

What happens when you try to set the V+ to HDMI mode? What model TV do you have?

Re: v+ install

I go through the set up as per the book and on screen video and then press ok to test.

The settings go back to the original ones ie composite, RGB etc and when we try to watch a HD programme it informs us that our TV is not HD ready. The TV is a Toshiba
37X3030.

Then do you press the TEXT key to save the new setting?

Ok so now its time to put the kettle on make a brew and sit down and watch Day break (HD) all episodes back to back in dolby 5.1 sound who needs the cinema
...excuse me for butting in but as you've only connected the V+ box to your cinema system via phono leads, then you've actually only getting an analogue stereo signal into your cinema system therefore are not getting 5.1 surround sound. The only way to get true 5.1 surround sound from the program is, if it's broadcast in 5.1 and you've connected via optical or coaxial, which can carry the 5.1 signal.....otherwise it'll be stereo out of all speakers.....

The only reason I know this is I've been looking into upgrading my DVD cinema system to allow me to connect V+ and DVD....the only way to do it is to buy an AV Receiver with coaxial/optical inputs...then you have to get an active sub..the list goes on and can cost thousands ...
