Re: tips for increase download speed via wireless

Upgrade the router maybe. I have a linksys WRT54GS and i can max out 20mbit. I've only been using wireless 6 days for the laptop and was expecting problems. The only problem i get is it lags my wireless bluetooth mouse and keyboard for some reason when i max out the speed!

Re: tips for increase download speed via wireless

Yup get a good quality WiFi Router don’t expect one costing £39.00 to give the same transfer as one costing £100.00

I have a Netgear G+mimo and changed the DNS server away from the VM ones

The browsing now is a little better and pages that did not come-up now work with no problem. I still don’t know if I should stay and ride out the storm within VM or jump the sinking ship??

I Disabled Advanced 108Mbps Features and Disable eXtendedd Range(XR) Feature

I got a speed increase

Re: tips for increase download speed via wireless

depends on the signal strength aswell as i can connect to the router at 48/54mbps (low or very low) and the router sends at 24/36mbps and the most i normally average about 13/14mbps on a wrt54gsuk with ddwrt firmware

Re: tips for increase download speed via wireless

Im sure theres a way off opening ports in windows as well to uncap the throttle that windows does which boosts download speed aslo. Will see fi i can find it.
