Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
RVP's best mate at school in Clogg-land was a Muslim, he converted at his early teens.\
Robin van Persie (born August 6, 1983 in Rotterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch football (soccer)|footballer currently employed by English FA Premier League team Arsenal F.C. He is married to Bouchra van Persie. He is also a Islam|Muslim convert, the result (it is believed) of a childhood friendship with his school's Moroccan janitor.

I knew his wife was, but not him, although it's probably safe to assume he isn't exactly anti-Muslim, their son is called Shaqueel. A quick examination of the youth and reserves would probably find a couple more, given that the usual catchment are for Arsenal youth is Norf London and, er, West Africa. One of the oddities is that there are no Greeks or Turks around, given that they're quite good at football and the area's full of them. Maybe the Greeks are down at Upton Park, having heard that the Hammers fans enjoy blowing bubbles.
Wenger has a penchant for religious players - Kanu for instance. Presumably they're less likely to get drunk, drive someone else's Merc up a lamp-post while already disqualified, then give a false name. How is Pennant getting on? Still complaining about English players not getting a chance at Arsenal?

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
Ohhh my Daniel do you think TBR is going to cry after Oranje has beaten scotland 5-0 :p but for Holland its a tough group....Norway and Scotland aint easy pickings then take on Iceland as well.... havent seen a single "easy" opponent in there. at least England has Andorra and Kazachstan

I'll tell you what will happen right now if you want.
Holland first, Scoltand second (on goal difference)
Scotland get horsed in the play off.

I recall the 606 comments after the 6-0 thumping. A burly Scotsman asked if those big Orange men had stopped doing nasty things, and if it was safe to come from under the sofa. It may well have been TBR
I don't think it's a tough group really. Norway may be difficult to break down, but they are unlikely to score themselves.
It's down to Scotland and Holland imo, and I don't think Scotland will win.

That's sort of what I expect, though I think Holland will win the group on points, not goal difference. I'd like to see Scotland go through in the play offs though.

I see you forget the other leg of that tie when we beat you.
Actually, after our recent displays i think we'll have you. The only trouble is that i dont actually think your lot will be our biggest problem, that will come in the form of Macedonia and Norway.
We would be expected to beat them we dont perform well against the smaller nations for some reason. (Georgia for example)
Were much better as the underdogs.
