Re: How much Hard drive space?

160 GB Maxtor boot up disc about 2 thirds empty.160 GB SATA HD 130 GB free space.250 GB Freecom USB external HD ,166GB still free.

I go through and get ruthless about what I've got stored on a much more regular basis than I used to.Some of my rendered pictures can be on average 2MB and on some projects I can render up to around 20 times at each different stage and save each stage of a scene about the same number of times at increasing sizes of around 200 MB.This can result in one project file being around 6/7 GB..that was my poppy tribute..and I'd better get pruning soon or all that unused space will be hopeless to prune later in terms of time.

Personally I'd prefer a linux distro (ubuntu, debian, centos.etc) with webmin installed depending on the hardware.

Simply because although Freenas is great as a NAS linux is more expandable in terms of what else it can do at the same time, and if you're going to have a pc running as a server why not have it do more than just store your files.

firefly and jinzora are always worth having,

When it comes to HD movies/tv shows (remember one 1080p ep runs into the 20gb range) then yes, 6TB is kinda small.
