Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

OK, so the talk of the new iPhone got me thinking about my current phone and its functionality.
The K800i has two cameras, one to take pictures and one for video calls. While I know the second one works, I have never made a video call on the phone, a number of reasons.
1. I don't think I know other people with a video phone
2. The networks in the US don't support the 3G and Video call functionality.

So it got me wondering, does anyone actually use this functionality or is 3G primarily used for high speed data, Blackberry, Internet etc.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

Video calling is the white elephant of 3G technology - it's used far more for high-speed data use on laptops etc.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

I've never used the video calling nor would I want to, and I don't know anyone that has. Only if there is a specific reason like you're away from your kids etc would it be useful (at a push).

Phones today are bundled with so many extras and there are always someone that do makes use of them, but more often than not they are just that, extras to help to sell the phone.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

I have a 3g phone with Video Calling, and, TBH, never bother with it. It's all very exciting, then you find it's not a good idea to go wandering up the road staring at your phone. Well, I did, anyway. A lot of people I know just happily go wandering up the road, looking at their phone (usually texting), and are totally unaware of what is happening around them. Even what any nearby cars are doing.

I've never made a video call.

Don't see the point.

For me, 3G & 3.5G are for mobile internet.

I think those are sat based phones. Unlikely those places around the world would have a reliable 3G network in place.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

I've had two 3G phones over the last 3 years, the first being a Motorola A835 when 3 first launched and the second a Motorola E1000. Never really used video calling. Now I've got rid of the E1000 and gone to a 2.5G Samsung with Edge.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

I have only ever made 2 video calls in the 3 years I have had 3G phones.

I mainly use the 3G capability for the high data speeds.

Re: Do you use 3G video calling functionality?

I hate mobile phones. I don't even have my own, just my business one so I get what's given. Dunno if it's 3G or not and I don't really care. All I know is that it's Windows Mobile and it crashes and reboots several times a day. The less it rings and the less I have to use it the better.
