Problems With Home Network

Hi Guys

I have a home network with 4 computers connected to my broadband router and all share files and folders and the internet.
2 computers have windows vista ultimate and 2 computers have windows xp professional. All computers seem to be set up correctly and each computer can access 2 of the 4 computers with no problems through the my workgroup computers icon whether it is windows vista ultimate or windows xp professional but when trying to access the other 2 computers windows keeps asking me to enter a password and username in before it will let me access the shared files and folders in that computer. The 2 computers that are asking me to type in a username and password require none of this when actually using the computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in fixing this annoying problem i cant seem to fix

thanks in advance

Re: Problems With Home Network

Try just typing in the main admin persons name for accessing the computer, leave password blank. Should let you in. E.G. if you are the administrator for the PC type in your accounts name.

Re: Problems With Home Network

The usernames you enter are on those machines though right? You might want to setup a test user with full admin rights and a password to test it. The username must be the machine you are trying to access, not the one you are accessing from.

Re: Problems With Home Network

First of all i tried just entering the pc's username which has no password but didnt let me access it even though the user account has admin rights but creating a test account with a password and admin rights lets me log in absolutely fine but now i would like to know is why does it behave like this? and can i change this so it doesnt require a pasword and username to access it?

Thanks for your help
