Virgin Getting Slower!

I have been a loyal broadband cable subscriber since it's introduction a few years ago. While I was paying NTL I was always really happy with the product I paid for. Now I pay Virgin Media £37 per month for their premium service and download speeds are often quite appalling!
What is confusing me more is how I am managing upload speeds greater than my download speeds!

I have heard stories of tweaks to improve on these sort of shocking results.
Have heard right or should I start looking for a new isp?

I'm totally disgruntled anyway with all this traffic shaping stuff.

I recommend (and I recommend this to everyone) to downgrade back to 4Mb until the issues VM are having are sorted. When you downgrade, specifically tell the VM operator "I'm downgrading because the 20Mb service is terrible and doesn't work".

There's a lot of people experiencing issues with VM's 20Mb service, why not show VM that they need to sort things out by simply not subscribing to it?

If VM lose a lot of their 20Mb customers, they lose money, if they lose money it might be the kick in the rear they need to sort things out.

Re: Virgin Getting Slower!

One strange thing I've noticed during my speed issues is that I can connect to this site with little trouble yet ANY other website I visit takes forever to load (if it doesn't time out first). I have an engineer coming tomorrow but don't hold much hope of the issue being resolved. Think I'll be downgrading too.

Re: Virgin Getting Slower!

Hi.

First post here and I hope constructive

I had identical Problems with my 20MB service during the autumn months. As described, my upload was sometimes higher then my download.

However, everything got fixed when Virgin did maintenance in my area (BN1). You can find the details on the maintenance here: http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/...o?ticket=74642

Ever since that maintenance my speed has been perfect.

Would love to know where this brain wave came from? Like the operator gives a hoot, they want to finish your call and get the next one.. They have no where to record such data other than the memo and no reports are run off that. Most already know some customers have speed isssues based on their comments on the intranet when they announced 50meg.

Only advice anyone can give is call and report it with recent speed test results at varyin times, also do a search on here for other threads.. There are only 20-30 a day unfortunately.

Remember on persons problem isnt necessarily yours
