Could someone please explain to me the point of that bloody irritating woman keep popping in and molesting the professor geezer all the time.
Surely the aim of the cylons is to destroy all of mankind, but if she's in his mind the way she appears to be then she must know where they are so why doesn't she send the cylon fleet to wipe them out? They seemed keen enough to do it at the begining of the series.
Has to be said though that this weeks was alot better, despite there only being a couple of the "real" cylons in it

I think for the cylons its not enough to simply kill us, they have a plan, im sure of it. I think its going to be something like they want us to realise god or they want us to see them as gods before they kill us.
Im also convinced that Prof Baltar (spelling) is actually a cylon, I mean c'mon a nuke went off in his face in the mini-series movie. wether a Hot human/cylon babe is standing infront of you or not your not gonna survive. this would also explain why he has no memory of how he escaped.

That would make sense, I'm certain that the blonde said there were six of em. By my count theres still one unaccounted for, two of her, two Boomers, and the bloke they left on the supply station in the mini series makes five. Though I did think the "spy" that kept giving the location away after they had jumped was number 6.

I'm sure it was 12 'models' each of which looks like a human there are many incarnations of each of the models and when you kill one, it pops into another (presumably) empty body of the same model.
I don't believe that Prof Baltar is a cylon*, he's terrified of the rest of the humans finding out who had given the cylons free access to the defence mainframe for the last 2.5 years. If you add in the fact that he's got a chip planted in him (that was the explanation given for her) that keeps feeding him information/taunting him, then that's one screwed up human. He probably will sell out the other humans to save his own life but that would just be because he's only really interested in his life. I'm waiting to see where this goes.
Scarlett.
* The blond did mention in the mini series that they should get an imprint of his brain before he died.

Re: Battlestar Galactica
IMO it's good, but not that good.
Take Starbucks latest escape from a planet in a Cylon fighter that has a hole in it, she put her jacket in the hole to block it, then flew off without any space suit on, just air from a pipe.
Laughable.
I keep getting the feeling of Dejavu with this as if I have seen it all before?

Another thing that makes it seem more likely to me that hes a cylon is that she (blonde Cylon) is helping him to develope the cylon detector. The ultimate twist being that he wont be able to share it with anybody because they will discover he is one of them.
The chip thing makes no sense to me. While it could be done it still doesnt explain how he survived a nuke to the face and how he has no memory of how he got away.

It does not say anywhere that he has no memory of getting away. The whole point of the cylon detector is that he doesnt no how to make one. He asked for a nuclear warhead on the advice of 7 ...possibly to blow up the ship?

I thought it did say that in the mini-series movie.

Re: Battlestar Galactica
Nah. I dont remmember him actually saying that he didnt remember how he got away.....I think your supposed to presume that 7 saved him by standing in front of the blast.....saved him for later If he was a cylon he could have just died and an imprint of his mind put in another body.....no problem!
Im a geek OK!!!!

Re: Battlestar Galactica
I'm afraid that Battlestar Gallactica has suffered the same fate as a lot of series that have been "remade"..it has been modernised to the point where it bears little relation to the original.
The new series spends so much time off-topic with unnecessary sexual scenes and trivia. The rewriting of the characters has introduced features and problems that were not there in the original series and the way it has been filmed gives an almost Playstation 2 feel to it.
It's quite possible to update a series while remaining true to the essential essence of the original characters.
The original series tackled practical & social issues of a community seeking a new home, while being pursued by a hostile enemy.
This one spends too much time exploring the intimate relationships of the crew.
Another feature of "remade" classics is that they are often not as well received as the original.
The younger generation may enjoy this version but I'll stick with my memories of the original series.

IIRC Ronald Moore (who created the new series) never intended to remake the original. He went back to the original ideas, and wrote a new story based on those ideas.
If viewed as a remake , then I think the new Galactica changes too much. If viewed as a new story based on the original ideas, then I think it is excellent. I think it conveys the sheer horror of there situation quite effectively. After all, watching your home and a lot of your loved ones be destroyed then being chased across the galaxy by the race that did it probably would be terrifying..

Re: Battlestar Galactica
Personally, I think the new series is very good. It should not be, although it is inevitable that it will be, compared with the old series.
The old series never really dealt with the end of mankind, it was a an episodal show in so far as it was a different story concluded each week. No matter how far away from their old planet they got they always found another planet with humans on it, and. or Cylons. I find this series a lot darker and much more interesting.
Baltar a Cylon?? - he was in the original series....
Baltars cylon detector - surely a blood test would suffice. In the pilot episodes a cylon that on the Ragnor station fell ill because of the special radiation that surrounded the cloud. Adama could tell he was a cylon, he told him that the radiation affects cyclon circuitry. Although they look human and the physiology is a near copy it is still synthetic??????

Baltar was not a cylon in the original series - he sold the human race out, and worked for them (The cylons), but he wasn't a cylon.

That may well be true. It's a pity that they did not do as Star Trek did and simply rename it as "Battlestar Galactica: The Next Generation" or something similar to distinguish it from the original. They could also have kept the fundamental ideas but changed the characters.
In that way it would be judged on its own merits. What they have attempted to do is to produce an adapted remake of the original series with no sense of continuity other than character names.
Also, considering that it is supposed to convey the sense of horror of their tragedy there is still too much focus on intimate relationships. The original series was essentially an action series, which dealt with "human" issues like freedom, self-sacrifice, heroism etc but did so with a degree of humour and discreet relationships.

I think you'll find if you watch the original series back over, at the end Baltar is beheaded and it is then revealed that all along he was, in fact, a Cylon.
