Vista Crashing :(

Right then boys and girls.....need a bit of help with my laptop.

I bought a Toshiba Equium L40 10x last month. Came with Vista home premium.

It's this one for specs if required.

Anyway, everytime I start downloading for more than 5-10 mins the things blue screens. The error I get is related to igdkmd32.sys. Different errors each time, non paged area things and driver not equal zero or along those lines.

After a little looking about it seemed to relate to my graphics driver. So managed to find an update, and installed that. Still the same problem. So I thought I'd try being a little clever (just to assure myself it was the graphics driver) and decided to remove the graphics driver completely.
Running with basic graphics, I tried downloading again. This time it Blue screened but with a fault with my WLAN driver (which had never popped up before).

This happens with whatever method I try to download (IE7, Firefox, Bitcomet, grabit)

I'm at a total loss.

Can anyone help

TIA

Re: Vista Crashing :(

driver issue. Update your wireless drivers /try downloading with a ethernet connection instead of wireless to rule it out

Re: Vista Crashing :(

Ok...an update.
System stopped working after about an hour.....
Found Zings post and checked for new WLAN driver, found one and installed. Problem is, my internet slows down to a crawl, browsing is near impossible, downloads appaulling.
Rolled back to old driver, and my speed comes back up, but ,my system still crashes

Bit lossed to what to do now.

Re: Vista Crashing :(

igdkmd32.sys seems to relate to the graphics, have you tried updating the graphics drivers?

Re: Vista Crashing :(

Not a ralink wireless chipset is it?

I found the RALINK drivers had a tendency to BSOD the system if you hammered the connection.

Mind you that pertiuclar pc does have a problem that occasionally causes it to fall over anyway but it was much more prominent on vista (think the NF4 doesn't like ... something)

Re: Vista Crashing :(

Just a quick update.

After trying all suggestions, and hours of searching various solutions, nothing has helped.
So, for now, I have resorted to putting Windows XP on to the laptop.

Will try again when I have some decent time to faff about with it.

Thanks for all your help

Re: Vista Crashing :(

Is it working in XP, if it is then we can rule out hardware as the problem.

Re: Vista Crashing :(

I would wait for service pack 1 before you move back to Vista, I'm running the beta and it's a huge leap forward for me.
