Who to phone about my email issues
Still having issues downloading my emails...
Rang the Indian help desk, they are a joke and of no help at all, trying to tell me its my PC fault and it may not be compatable with the email system?? EH!!
So, anyone got any other number out there worth ringing... Only been trying to get it fixed for the past 10 days now.

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
Are you using webmail or a 3rd paty application?
If using 3rd party app, ones you delete the 'stuck' emial do your mails come flooding in?
Have you tried telneting into the server?

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
Using Microsoft office 2003. I deleted all the emails in the inbox to clear it if it was an issue, didnt work, still get the same error.
I feel like Virgin just dont care as im sure if a techhead looked at the server logs he/she would would see the error and it could be fixed. Dam anoying to ring a help desk and get charged and it still isnt fixed.
Odd thing is, now i cant even send emails or recieve them, unless i go through the web browser.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Colin
Not telnetted to the server, forgot the settings for that, can you pm me them if poss so i can try that, see if its something i can fix.

yours is a different issue, yours sounds like there is a corrupt or large email on the server
---------- Post added at 11:12 ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 ----------
telnet mail.virgin.net 110
if webmail works then your account on the server is working or that would fail aswell

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
sign into your webmail, so go to the virgin media site and sign in there, check your emails, and delete what you don't need.
I would try another program for your emails, like thunderbird.
see if you still have the problem.
good luck

sorry but i work for tech support not virgin but ex-telewest, just want to make a point cos its annoying when people phone up and automatically put blame on the agent/company. it is a pc problem as you can access it from the web browser. they are saying its not compatible cos they cant give you support on it. just sick to death of people saying service is a joke when the fault actually is on your pc! i also posted on your other thread trying to help, just get annoyed with people blaming things on something its not.

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
I know your trying to help - but when the error from outlook reads - internal server disk error, i cant see how its my pc... And the person i talked to, not you, the Indian guy, was not bothered at all, imo. The service i got from him was crap. The rest of you, i dont know about, but that Indian guy was not helpful at all.
I cant see it being my PC either. I have no fire walls up, no AVTK. All i got is XP pro + SP2, cs3 and wow. I can access my brothers ad my mums account on my PC. Just my emails are nto accessable, not even from any other PC i put my details in, tried my mums and my brothers and a mates PC, same error. I get the same error as i do on mine, this is way im saying its not my pc at fault but the server.
Hope that came across in a nice way

can you access your emails from the web?
if so do so, and read all and delete what you dont need.
open up your outlook and if there is not emails you need, delete the account.
try installing thunderbird, and set it up with your account settings.
test this.
if this works ok, install outlook again, set up with your account settings.
test this....
test all possibilities open to you as well as phoning someone.
you may have a problem with outlook itself, there my be wrong account settings, or a software issue

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
Cheers for the thunderbird link. downloaded it, installed - setup the account, download button presed, wait for 30 secs then get an error
* Error, can not read from disk, error 2 * same error report as outlook i guess, saying the source its reading from, the virgin server, has a disk error where my mail box is.
Still, least it proves its not just outlook, wish i was wrong, then id get my emails lol!

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
colin, try searching on Google on the error code (0x800CCC90) - there are a lot of suggestions there.

Re: Who to phone about my email issues
i had a problem where someone tried to send me a large email when i used virgins (were ntls then) servers, since switching to using gmail and having my virgin email forwarded to my gmail account i have had no problems. Way i fixed it was to delete the "large" email that was having trouble downloading by using webmail.
