Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

On the subject of contexts changing - has anyone else picked up on the broadcast media now frequently referring to the mother as "Mrs McCann" as opposed to the infinitely more endearing "Kate McCann"?

Can't people just accept that people have things to say, even though things cover past subjects, remember that the context changes constantly, so instead of those scoring points trying to be clever and wanting to look clever or whatever the case may be with the forum.

Apologies for being off topic.
I agree, but the thread has been threatened with closure a number of times.

And also how the pictures being used of her are now much less flattering.

Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

Mrs McCann was joined by top Lisbon lawyer Carlos Pinto de Abreu who arrived in Praia da Luz yesterday morning.

The couple is looking into whether the fighting fund to help find Madeleine will be able to pay for his legal advice.

Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

The reports of the Kate McCann being offered 'A deal' would appear to be wide of the mark, as has been reported by the portugese and also UK media each criminal offence has a set sentence that not even a Portugese judge can change.

So, thus far The McCann's are alledging that the Portugese police have planted evidence. The Portugese involvment in the forensic side of the investigation (especially in the recovery process) has been very little. With the vast amount of the recovery and analytical work has been performed under the guidance of British forensic teams and analaysis performed by the FSS in Birmingham (facts which are now well documented)

The one question I have is this.

If the hire care was infact hired twenty five days after the dissaperance of the child then where did the Portugese police get the blood from to 'plant' in the car ?

I think you can cut the McCanns a little slack with the pressure they're under. They aren't under any obligation to prove their innocence or to prove what did happen. The fact that their suggestion about the way the blood got into the car is a little far fetched is not, and should not be taken as, an indication of their own guilt.

At the moment, however, the one question I have (and one which the Police will have to prove at some point, if they persist in this line of enquiry) is this:

How did the McCanns smuggle the decomposing body of their daughter past the police, the world media and a horde of rubbernecking tourists, to get it into that car and off somewhere out of the glare of publicity long enough to arrange disposal?

If the Police's suggestion is based on this one piece of evidence, then they are right out on a limb here and, I submit, are not paying due regard to the contents of a certain Mr Occam's shaving cabinet.

not only that but before reporting it to the police they could have smuggled out a body to another accomplce's apartment, which was never searched.

Weren't there reports of a man carrying a small child at the early stages of the investigation?

Have either of you been to many other forums and read about this case? If not, you should, and you'll see that here it's actually a very tame thread with just tame questions to ask that people are confused about!

Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

Your spot on Pia i have seen a couple of other forums where emotions seem to be running massively higher then in this thread and if the mod's on here saw them they would definately not be thinking of closing this thread. One question that the police are SUPPOSED to have asked did seem very good to me and that was why they hired a car a day before they were jetting off to see the pope does seem strange they managed all that time without one and then a day before going away they hire one.

I think to be honest while we can debate the mc'canns innocence or guilt they have done some things that are a bit weird and off during this whole thing that is now coming back to haunt them. Their early statements on the events of the night in question have certainly fuelled the group that feel they are involved in someway and those early statements never sat right with me either. I am curious as to how this went from an abduction case to an accidental death case as the portugese police seem to be so certain it is.

Putting a new idea in maybe they had nothing directly to do with her death by virtue of not being in the apartment when she had an accident and therefore feel they are not guilty of her death. This whole matter is so confused and contradictory that it fuels whatever viewpoint you want to take and that is what is making this a point of interest for so many people.

Yeah - but to be fair, I don't mod other forums so I'm not too bothered if they get out of hand and turn in to schoolground squabbles.

Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

Considering the line of questioning taken against Kate McCann, I'm suprised the Portuguese police allowed them to return home.

They have just taken off. Estimated to arrive at East Midlands airport at 12:16.

Re: Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

As i understand the system and i may be wrong now the portugese have made them ofiicial suspects extradition would be more of a formailty if they needed to get them back therefore letting them leave poses no problems. It is hard for us in the UK to understand their system but i am sure they have their reasons for doing what they are doing and just because we don't understand it doesn't mean it is mickey mouse or inferior to ours or works any less well.
