Ntlworld email problem

Hi all, I have been getting this error message when sending emails via Windows Mail and cant understand why it's happening. It only happens when sending emails and was working a few days ago.

"An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'hi', Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from [90.198.94.230]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67"

Any ideas as to whats wrong or what I can do?

Thanks

Re: Ntlworld email problem

that IP resolves to a sky BB address, you can only send mail using the VM smtp server from a VM IP.

Re: Ntlworld email problem

Hey Gaz do you work for Virgin Media?

To phils_wicked
Try changing your Sky account outgoing mail server to smtp.ntlworld.com you will then be allowed to send emails from that account as well as your ntlworld account (or go to the outbox click the FROM field and select your ntlworld account to send the email)

I used to work for Virgin Media but I'm K Now

Red face Re: Ntlworld email problem

Hi,
I've recently move from VM to Sky, for my sins, and I've also been getting the above error message. I've tried the previous poster's solution, but this hasn't sorted it. Does this mean that I'm going to have to change my email address to Sky? Not something I was planning on doing.
Cheers
Hel

Re: Ntlworld email problem

The OP has moved from VM to SKY, so does not have an ntl(VM) IP address.

Doesn't matter what OUTGOING email server the OP has configured, you can't retreive email via pop.ntlworld.com from a non ntl(VM) ip address.

Same thing with smtp.ntlworld.com, if your trying to SEND form a non ntl(VM) IP address, then the server will just refuse to to talk to you.

Re: Ntlworld email problem

Just for the sake of possible confusion...

Jon T is correct for Helmoo's issue, my answer to Phils Wicked still stands, as long as he is a Virgin Media/ntl: customer, which I think he is, changing the outgoing mail server will work for sending emails using non-VM/ntl: mail accounts.

Re: Ntlworld email problem

Sorry for any confusion caused, for some reason I didn't take notice of who posted what, and for some reason assumed Helmoo was Phils Wicked.

davedefeet is correct about using smtp.ntlworld.com to send no NTL/VM email, I do this for two domains that I own.
