Connect 2 computers using cable modem & Actiontec DSL gateway
I am on Vergin Media BB 2mg and have a cable modem connected to a PC. I want to share the BB with a laptop and a PDA. I also have an Actiontec wireless modem/router. all my PC, laptop and PDA have wifi.
Not sure how I could make use of these stuff and get the internet connection to all. Any advice greatefully recieved.
If your router is cable compatible (must have an ethernet enabled WAN port, and no onboard ADSL modem), simply power off the modem, and PC(s), ethernet the modem to router WAN, ethernet the rotuer LAN(s) to PC(s). Then power modem, router, PC(s).
To add wireless stuff get a wired internet connection going to a PC from the modem via router, then set up the wireless.
