Re: Alastair Campbell’s Diaries
Particularly because any vestige of interest has been removed before publication. Blair was apparently upset about being revealed to use (*gasp*) naughty language occasionally. If that's the level of revelation, I'll be reading Janet and John, thanks.

No need to read it, you can watch it as from next Wednesday BBC2 8pm

Re: Alastair Campbell’s Diaries
I think it highly unlikely that Campbell will drop Blair in it, so there's likely to be very little in the way of exposure of the late PM's habits to public view, and rather a lot of the old tabloid journo/porn mag story writer* titillation expertise that served Campbell so well.
FWIW, Blair was explaining shortly before he went how his commitment to open government had included introducing briefings for journalists. Guess who gave the briefings? Guess how long it was before journalists were allowed to mention who gave the briefings?
* Both former roles apparently fitting AC to be the Voice of the Prime Minister.

Re: Alastair Campbell’s Diaries
Maybe not in this edition, but I read on the Times site that another "With millions of words" will follow.
AC is expecting this edition to be a big seller, judging by the fact that it seems worthy of its own website. Hollywood stuff or what?

Re: Alastair Campbell’s Diaries

Re: Alastair Campbell’s Diaries
Today gave him a massive slot this morning (over 20 minutes). It was incredibly boring. Two hacks (i.e. Humphreys and Campbell) with an obsession with politics wrangling over the meanings of words, who said what to whom and when ...
They even got onto the question of whether Campbell had demanded Humphreys' resignation after the Dodgy Dossier scandal. Unbelievably navel gazing and insular. The only mildly amusing thing about it was listening them trying to out-cool each other and pretend neither had any kind of personal animosity towards the other.
