				NTL silver modem

Hi, new to the forum. I've been with NTL and there little silver modem for longer than I can remember, with no real problems. Anyhow I have Xbox 360 conected through a router which is real old and real basic so I thought Id upgrade.
This is where I need some help (please) there are hundred of modems, routers and modems with built in routers - where do I start??

Is it simply a matter of buying a new modem and replacing the NTL box with it?

Any help appreciated, I know its a noob question - sorry

 thanks

You need to buy a router suitable for an ethernet based modem, try looking at Broaband Buyer.
Welcome to the forum, good luck.

Its an ethernet router you need, on the front page there is a link to suitable modems for Virgin Media cable customers. Routers are pretty much plug and play, but if you go for a wireless router, make sure you set up wireless security. Other than that they all work out of the box. |

 | just to be clear, you should only consider changing the router, replacing the modem with 3rd party devices won't work - sorry if you knew that already |
