Zimbabwe will collapse within six months, possibly leading to a state of emergency, according to a briefing report for aid workers in the country

But apparently its all the fault of the West:

Mr Mugabe denies responsibility for Zimbabwe's economic problems, blaming a western plot to bring down his government because of his policy of seizing white-owned land.

It amazes me why anyone would do that to their own country.

Zimbabwe will only recover once that idiot is out of office. Mugabe has got win the prize for "Most likely to F*** up a country through ignorance". The level of inflation is currently mond blowing and I cannot see how anyone in that country is surviving.

But consider this, the country collapses, then gains stability, labour has become very cheap sooooo everything gets outsource from India to Zimbabwe

Could be possible, I mean it would be a long time before stability returned I reckon (by that I mean financial and agricultural issues etc resolved).

There were reports recently of an attempted military coup d'Etat (last Thurs.), which unfortunately led to failure as mugabe's secret police the CIO had an informer on the inside. Details are very sketchy.

There are a great many Zimbabweans in exile, an estimated 500,000 are here and many more in South Africa etc, many send cash home and the effect of this may have kept the regime going or delay change, otherwise the deaths from hunger and disease would have reached high figures or revolution from below may have swept mugabe from power.

Sooner or later change will come and the whole mugabe - zanu pf regime will be swept aside. Unfortunately, the opposition parties are poorly led and unlikely to lead an uprising something of which frightens leaders such as Tsvangirai (main MDC leader) as much as mugabe. A successful military coup d'Etat is still likely to be the catalyst for change, then of course, the danger is that Mbeki the South African president might want to rescue his good friend.

The ANC is having it's own problems at the moment with Cosatu possibly preparing to split off.
Anyway, Mbeki is off later this year, so we might have Zuma to worry about.

Zuma could be a real problem, for some strange reason he already has the support of ANC youth, amazingly the SACP, COSATU and Prominent black businessmen, and more surprisingly Buthelezi appears to approve of him, all info from recent Mail & Guardian.

Zuma has openly approved of mugabe's regime perhaps he desires that same sort of paradise in South Africa that mugabe and zanu pf have established! Both the SACP and COSATU have protested about the mugabe regime and pressed for action on workers' rights at home and abroad, so it seems strange they should support someone who has no socialist aspirations at all.

I wouldn't argue for one minute that Mugabe and the zanu pf have inflicted evil on that country, but as a matter of interest how many believe the MDC are a party full of members who are whiter than white. (no pun intended)

Certainly my experience of a couple of members involved in the MDC has shown them to be liars and cheats, with utter comtempt for the poor people suffering in their home country.

To quote an MDC supporter and representative I had the misfortune of knowing, she said something along the lines of "Ignore the chattering masses" when discussing the poor people in Zimbabwe. She was making the point that people should be ignored because the government knows whats best for them.

To quote another of her lines "The blacks are lazy" stange that one coming from a black person herself, but then again she was a black person with money. She saw herself above the poor black people in her home country, and could only boast about her wealth back home.

I think whoever gets into power there when it falls, the corruption will carry on. The only difference is it will probably be a different party benefiting from it.

Whilst Morgan xyz may not seem a threat, if he is not a strong enough leader there will be no control over the factions that Mugabe has kept under control in his brutal reign. It is the view of many Zimbabweans (admittedly ones comfortable in the UK) that removing Mugabe will probably end in a civil war.

There are many tribes in that area who will all want to fight to take control, I would never suggest Mugabe is good for the country but fighting amongst themselves is on the cards if he is removed.

Mugabe does have followers in that country, for example the ones who have been given land and farms.

Shock horror though, one of the MDC supporters I knew received land robbed off someone else before she turned sides after leaving and divorcing her zanu pf minister husband.
