Rock star turned aid activist Bob Geldof today launched a blistering attack on the G8 summit despite a $60bn (£30bn) pledge to fight HIV/Aids and an agreement on climate change.
|
he reckons (and i believe him) we wont see anything near this figure in 3 years.

Oh, has Geldof woken up to the fact that his best mate Tony doesn't give a toss? Only that sunglass-toting idiot Bonio to go, then.

I'm not sure why it's amusing to you. If our acceptance of 'non whites' into our land is as dangerous as you say it is, you should be terrified, or genuinely plotting some kind of armed resistance - not laughing.
However, to steer this back on topic, how is giving assistance to those less fortunate than ourselves 'anti-British'? The best bits of the glory days of Empire were the ones that were motivated by a genuine belief that Britain had a role to play in helping impoverished foreigners.

There's certainly a need for more spending on grammar and spelling IMO

Do you really think that the long-term health and prosperity of our nation has absolutely nothing to do with the health and prosperity of the nations that surround us?

Actually I tend to agree that charity should start at home.

It's instructive that your ire is directed at the tiny foreign aid budget rather than, say, the waste in the NHS in terms of bureaucracy derived from 'market' reforms (4% to 15% of the NHS budget in the last few years), paying independent treatment centres for operations that aren't performed and PFI projects where in order to avoid bankruptcy and meet contracts efficient hospitals are forced to close. A modicum of reading around the subject would help here.
