Modem Levels

Hi,

I'm running my modem off a splitter initially installed in my old place by telewest. It has the modem / tv box connected and I was wondering if the levels given are what is causing me to get somewhat poor performance, can anyone offer their advice? It's an SB5101e based in Lanarkshire.

Thanks

the 58dbmv power level is high, this denotes (simply put) how hard your modem is having to try to connect to the network.it will go to 61dbmv then start to try again,so could be you need the levels upping from the cab, which would see the rtn path power level drop down.i.e. it wont be trying as hard to connect, any downward fluctuation in the levels off the amp will probably cause the modem to drop off when its this high.hope this helps.

The power stated there is fine.

Micah56, the only thing of even slight concern is the upstream and downstream power levels, the downstream is borderline as the max tolerated is usually -10. The upstream again is as if the modem is shouting to be heard. However your signal to noise ratio is good
Possible call to faults about it, but i wouldn't bother unless it's causing problems tbh.

I'd like to post mine as I am unsure of how they should be, now take into considerationg, we have a HDU box fitted from the main feed, this is then split 3 ways, 1 to SACM, 1 to V+, and the other a lead through the brickwork to outside, then down to the living room, through the wall into a Samsung STB...
