Modem resetting

hi all i have an NTL cable modem on 10 meg which i recently started to share using an edimax br6104k router. when i first started i used a belkin 230-4 wired router and the internet kept dropping out. After being told the router was most likely to blame i bought the edimax. Thing is the problem has continued it is as if the modem is resetting every 5 minutes (modem light s flash as they do on reset) or something if i plug it directly into the my it does not do it.

So i have come to the conclusion it is something to do with the router i just don't know what it is. I am new to routers and stuff so it is very posiible i have a wrong setting and don't know it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts my internet is as realiable as a tony blair statement atm.

Do you get this problem with a direct connection from your modem to your PC?

Re: Modem resetting

Sorry bout the typing above no it does not do it if directly connected to the pc. Direct connect works perfectly though daughter would not be happy if i cut her internet and teens are bad enough for no reason let alone with one . Also it is not helped by me not being able to alter some of the settings in the router when i click to change it comes up as "page not found" and the setting remians unchanged .
