traffic shaping appliances

Anyone here used a traffic shaping appliance on you network to prevent bandwidth congestion? I'm looking at netequalizer and a few othres and wanted to get any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

We switched to a netequalizer in 2006 after previously using a higher-end solution and have been very pleased with the results. We provide Internet service to over 5,000 students and have now effectively minimized any bandwidth issues.
