Why is Larsson included in the "other" side? Suppose he's (just) left ure really.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
was a good game but it shows how much the ball moves in the air.. sure it's a great free kick but the ball is so light it can move two or three times giving the keeper no chance... as sucnh it is so easy to score this is why players dive all the time as a free kick is almost as good as a pen now.. if we had a harder straighter ball then it would be harder to score from a free kick and easier to score from open play and so there would be no point in diving.. just ask Pele and Charlton and they will tell you in their day they never wanted a free kick but wanted open play as they could score then
think the game also showed players like Park and Richardson aren't good enough for us... Rooney, Ronaldo, Neville and Giggs are needed for us and can't be risked getting injured.. Park isn't good enough so he can play 90 mins

I thought Park had a good game - the cross he supplied for Rooney's goal was excellent. Richardson is the sort of player who'll get sold to a lower club and turn in to one of the greatest players at that level. Being a left winger I reckon he saw himself as Giggsy's replacement.

well as i've said before i'm not a fan of Park.. sure he put a cross in but he also ran into other players too.. he puts in some work during games but he's not good enough for this level.. Fergie only plays him against Fulham and Charlton which says alot about what he thinks of him

Oh yeah, he's not a key player but definately good cover when needed.

Another chance to see that free kick here
I thought Malouda's goal for the Euro XI was a great strike, and was also impressed with that Vich bloke who was partnering Larrson up front in the first half

With that system it would be possible for a team to go through a full season without scoring a single goal in 'live' play, draw all their games 0-0 but win all their shoot outs. Another team could win all bar one of their matches 10-0 but lose just one game 0-1 and the team drawing every single game would win the league, somehow I think not gentlemen.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
I just knew this guy would have some input sooner or later..........
Quote:
Michel Platini’s plan to limit the number of English clubs in the Champions League could result in the teams finishing in third and fourth place in the domestic league meeting in a play-off to decide who will progress to the group stage of the competition.
The former France captain has raised the stakes for Barclays Premiership clubs after being elected president of Uefa, European football’s governing body, a month ago. Among his wide-ranging pledges are to reduce from four to three the number of Champions League places given to dominant nations, such as England, Italy and Spain.
|
I suppose it's a step in the right direction, as it is called "The Champions League"
And easier for the French clubs also

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
some of Platini's ideas are quite good.. the problem is no one has really asked the lower sides in the CL and other winning leagues that they want.. take B86 and FC Kaunus.. they win the league most years but they can't ever win the European Cup... what they should be asked is do they want to enter the CL and get some extra money.. or should there maybe be a two tier cup format with the lower countries in the co-efficients rankings going into that.. at least then they could actually win a trophy in Europe
having less teams from England, Spain and Italy is no bad thing at all.. interestingly it looks like Germany will fall down the rankings and lose a CL place to either Romania or Portugal
