Video-On-Demand Problems

Hi I just got V+ installed on Saturday and so far it has mostly been good. The only problem really is that certain programmes on VOD don't work.

Examples - The Closer, Spiderman, Dead Ringers , Alias.

I get the same error

"On Demand is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later"

The error code was 9000 before, but when I just checked just now it said 9005 (don't know if that makes any difference)

This is quite frustrating as it is stopping me watching several programmes that I want to watch.

Can anybody help me out? Is this a problem with anyone else's service or just mine?

I live in the Granada region, it was previously NTL here (Cable + Wireless before that).

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Video-On-Demand Problems

This seems to be a trend for me...

When I get any VOD error I pull the plug for 30 - 40 seconds then wait while the thing boots. (About 1 minute for me as I have a PACE STB) All the channels then usually work. (Including VOD.) A couple of times I have had to wait for about 5 minutes for VOD to get going after the above procedure!

Re: Video-On-Demand Problems

OK, have tried resetting the box. Unplugging the box. Removing the smart card and resetting the box - nothing has worked.

Have called VM on 151 and the lady said that a technician is going to look into it and call me back with 48 hours.

Will see what happens...

Re: Video-On-Demand Problems

Well yes, VOD is buggered for a lot of people at the moment.

Takes the mick really, just as i seem to get something good from virgin, they mess it up again.

Install was good, then the BB messed up, they fixed that and i was happy again. Now i dont know what to do. My TV drive is nackered, and i need to wait 5 days for a call back, and the VOD is messed up and ive been told to wait upto 48 hours before it will be fixed.

Wish i could just speak to the person i did a few weeks ago, at least they where honest.

but as for the VOD problems, yes VOD is buggered

Re: Video-On-Demand Problems

My whole service is screwed up, the amount of times the box freezes, screws up, cocks up, is unbelievable, and the listings in vod are totally screwed up, it lists little britain series 2 twice, one series has 6 episodes and the other has 2 just as an example, but series 1 has only 3 episodes? The fast forward sometimes freezes on ff and you cant stop it till the programme ends. Programmes disappear and then reappear. Im gonna be sueing them for a bad back for the amount of times ive gotta bend down and unplug the thing. It just shouldnt be like this.

But now the box is just totally fubar'd, last night everything went heywire and the timings for now and next just didnt make sense. It was 1.30am but yet the programs where on 12am times, and it listed programmes as only running for 10 - 20 minutes each. The 'now' programme started at 12.30am yet the next programme started at 00.05am and this was on every channel, but with different times, the prgramme names where also incorrect. The major trouble was I was recording some music vids, and when the timings screwed up, the option to cancel recording disappeared as it wasnt showing the correct programme, and to stop it I had no choice but to go and delete what id just recorded so that I could to stop the recording. Thats just one example of last nights fun and games, and I got that annoyed with it I actually watched freeview instead as it just wasnt working, how bad is that?

I had to laugh, but thats it now, ive had enough of it, the box has never worked since the day it was installed and there coming round on friday to check it out, the guy wont be here 2 minutes and ill be demanding a new box. Ive already rang them for compensation, but got through to bangalore and the poor guy didnt understand me, he kept saying yeah but i knew he didnt understand a word I was saying. Theres no way im paying for this.
