V+/HD Quality in Hampshire/Portsmouth area?
Hi,
Me has just spoke to my mate who knows a Virgin Engineer working in and around Portsmouth and he insists that they are having alot of problems with the 'levels ' on the V+ boxes in the area, and that the quality and service of the V+ boxes and HD pictures are really awful!
Does anyone in and around the area have any problems that i shoud know about or is it just talk!? [only 6 Days to installation cant wait, just dont want to be disapointed.]
many thanks ,mj

Happened to phone CS about no Virgin Central and, whilst waiting for the CS to answer, the phone message system highlighted that there were a lot of problems with reception and On Demand in the Portsmouth and PO12 areas and that they were aware of it and were trying to repair.

I'm in PO6, had the V+ box for about 2 weeks. Apart from the annoying fact that Press red is not working, everything else is good. Picture quality on most channels is excellent.

I had the V+ box installed in mid February and the picture quality via the HDMI cable is excellent. I has Sky (not HD) prior to this and the SD broadcasts are better on Virgin as the V+ box upscales them to HD format. My only real problem with the box is the lack of the red button, but thats the subject of several other threads and another story!

Re: V+/HD Quality in Hampshire/Portsmouth area?
Hi,
I had my V+ box installed today.
All was well with the reception this afternoon then about 4pm many channels became pixalated and the HD channels are unusable because of the pixalation.
Hopefully they will resolve this soon.
Phil.

Re: V+/HD Quality in Hampshire/Portsmouth area?
Hi,
I phoned CS and they have advised that the problems in the Portsmout and surrounding areas should be resolved by Sunday.
CS also advised me that we will be compensated for the loss of channels but couldn't tell me how much.
I look forward to my next bill.
Phil.

You seen sky HD on your friends tv?
So this warrants a remark that the HD picture on your V+ BOX wired to your tv with probably different cables, compared to your friends sky HD wired to his television ( could be something there ) with again different leads.
A better comparison may have been one tv set with one set of cables using v+ and sky HD in a to b comparison.

Hi MarkJNash.
The compenstation is because a lot of the channels on my v+ box are pixalated, the sound breaks up and in a lot of cases there is no sound.
On some channels I get a message displayed that the "Channel is unavailable right now. Try again later".
Apart from the movie channels I can only view, with no problems, BBC1, ITV & Channel 4.
Such fun.
Phil.

Same here, I consider it unwatchable most of the time. I'm not after compo though - just a fix!
