Re: Linksys WRT300N

I would get a router from the Linksys WRT54G range. Superb, especially when you flash it with DD-WRT...

Re: Linksys WRT300N

I have the original one WRT54G but if I was going to get one now, I think I would buy the WRT54GSUK.

DD-WRT is a firmware which can add extra features to your router like increasing the wireless signal making the router more reliable... etc...

But... if you did flash the router with the DD-WRT firmware, your warranty will probably be void...

More about the DD-WRT firmware here.

I recently upgraded my router to this firmware and definitely recommend it.

I've got the original Linksys WRT54G as well. Never let me down yet and I can sit outside in the summer about 20 metres away

Re: Linksys WRT300N

Didn't someone recently flash a router firmware and it stopped his messenger connecting? Also I believe Ramrod has just purchased a wireless router/ print server which he is very happy with.

Yes, but that was due to a messenger problem not the router.

Another vote for the WRT54G or WRT54GS. Both are fantastic routers.

Personally for me, I have never needed to flash with dd-wrt firmware. Its a quality product right out of the box.

From what I have read, the dd-wrt firmware can give you extra settings like increasing signal strength, multiple ssid's and a few other bits and pieces.
