Deals & discounts
Has anyone managed to negotiate a good deal or get discounts for the loss of the Sky channels?

Re: Deals & discounts
If anyone wants to watch Sky, the only place you'll get it is with Sky.
If you didn't watch it in the first place, why expect a discount?

Re: Deals & discounts
I called CS and they said a standard £10 per month for 6 mths was being given to people who call to complain,so when i hung up the phone i called my mum who is on the VIP bundle like myself and told her to do the same.
When she called she was told no such reduction was in place and the basically told her it was lies and i was not getting the reduction.I gave her my account details and she called them back and they advised that i was being given a reduction but couldnt say the amount (even though i had told her and we all really knew the amount).
He then said each account was reviewed individually and they offered her a 1 off £26.50 reduction and said it was because we had different services (Not true we are both on teh VIP bundle) when my mum said we both have a VIP bundle he then again said he could disclose which package i was on.

Re: Deals & discounts
I did watch sky, 24, lost, stargate etc, but I'm not too bothered about a discount, as the VIP was a good saving on the products individually and less than I was paying before the relaunch.
I'd rather VM put extra money towards new content that sky don't have.
What get's me is that I've seen people trying to get discounts, that never watched any sky channels!!
If there that bothered about losing sky, then go to sky, if not stop moaning about it. No one is forcing anyone to stay with either company, but then I guess many know the grass is not always greener.
The more money VM dish out in discounts the less to reinvest in new shows.

If we all had a discount, there would be no new stuff, and we'd all suffer.
I never haggle at the supermarket....

Re: Deals & discounts
I see your point but i am sick of hearing this "haggling of beans" rot at the supermarket business.
I see it this way if i got to the supermarket and someone gets to the till and they say "you shop here alot so i will give you 10p off" and i also shop there alot then i want my 10p off too.
I dont see what is wrong with getting a reduction, its not like Virgin are a small business starting out or that they are even striving to make improvements.Maybe all it means is me and a few 1000 other customers getting a reduction from Virgin they wont be able to pay Uma Thurman a couple of £100,000 for her next load of ads.
P.S I dont want to go to sky i have been with Telewest for years and have always loved there services.

I totally agree with these comments.
Over on Digital Spy a guy from Virgin retentions is having a moan about the "ridiculous deals" some people are getting, but I have been a cable user since 1991 so I feel that I'm entitled to a "ridiculous deal" if I can one.
Also for the last 2 months I have been paying for the Broadband L service, but have just noticed that I'm on the M service.
All the more reason for getting a good deal I think.
I also feel the same as you do, Ive always been more than happy with cable, I dont want to go over to Sky

hi there,
i am with you on this, so many out there moan about sky/cable, but never watch what they are moanning about.
as you say if you are not happy with cable go to sky, as for myself i am happy with what i get from cable, and from what i have heard it is going to get better.

Re: Deals & discounts
You know with all these people getting deals on sky sports, this sky sports package they been advertising isn't really worth it anymore

Re: Deals & discounts
Well - I have been retained. Was on 3 for £30 with u/g BB to 4 mb - so total £37
After a prolonged conversation I have downgraded my TV from L to M (which is free, but essentially as good as L for me now), and got 10 mb BB - now paying £30. Discounts are permanent. - so £7 and 6mb better off, but Sky one and SS news worse off. A fair deal in my opinion.
BTW - anyone trying to get through, here is a tip, dial 150 and don't press anything, got through in about 4 mins, and retentions was saying over 30 mins (and infact just cutting you off after about 3....).
