[Confirmed]The Virgin Media Movie Promotion

Another confirmed Story with Mr Steve Burch stating that to make up for the loss of Sky One et al, a new Movie Promotion will be rolled out in the next few months.

Any ideas about what these Promotions could be?

I'd think that it can't be anything big because the Films have the Royalties and such to be paid for.

Now, unless, a new film every day, on like a free trial entity, that way, they will still get income also, as most people cannot record the free ones with the Double Macrovision on V+.

Standard STBs have 1 layer, it should be noted, and it is much easier to do.

Possibly a channel of 3 or 4 movies a day, but then you have Sky Movies anyroad!

Re: [Confirmed]The Virgin Media Movie Promotion

Well that's a bit Crap...

But they over-hyped Virgin Central which is $h1t so I wouldn't put it past them...

'Youve lost Sky One, so here is a channel full of adverts...'

I doubt it - this topic has already been covered on another thread
a) Branson has said not many want to leave - and before you say anything, he's not one for telling untruths.
b) A lot of people will be interested to see what offers are coming out.

If you mean Sky worried about their churn rate - then that too is a possibility.

if they weren't certain, they wouldn't have made this offer:

Can I cancel my contract?

At Virgin Media we're all about being honest and doing the right thing.
So, even if we've done everything we can to persuade our TV customers to stay, and they still want to disconnect their TV service, then we're not going to hold them to their 12 month contract. We'll allow them to cancel at any time up to the end of March although they need to give us 30 days notice. This commitment will not impact our contractual rights to recover any outstanding arrears owing at the time of cancellation.

Thumbs down Re: [Confirmed]The Virgin Media Movie Promotion

Sorry I would have to disagree on that point

The NCC made it very clear

http://www.ncc.org.uk/cgi-bin/kmdb10...iewcurrent.htm

that they viewed peoples right to cancel as right. VM took the decision, whether based on PR or Legal Advise, to accept this position

That is why they did that not because of any worries about losing customer.

I support VM in what they did and am and will still at the end of this process be a VM customer.

My point is that Sky seems to have a better gamplan than our boys

Steve Burch = Sven Goran Erikkson (Potential High Leadership Poor)

i think there are many more cards up the sleeve.
I think that Sky has squandered a great deal of money, trying to strangle Virgin Media at birth (stake in ITV, sponsorship of the Virgin Radio breakfast show prior to the launch of the new company etc). It's going to come horribly unstuck.

Re: [Confirmed]The Virgin Media Movie Promotion

Hope you are right

but in poker terms if you are holding aces best play them when you have chips not when your stacks low

The point I make, once again , is you are going to do something do it properly not half-cocked.

Say what you are going to do and when (and do it)

The people who are likely to be switchers look at the current day not 1,2,3 months or years in the future.

NTL/Telewest have a long track record of not delivering and I would hate VM to roll back into that way.
