Because 24 was originally from BBC2

Re: Check out Sky One now...
I never said it was deliberate just that the feed was distorted.
BBC2? Got no reports of that being a problem yesterday myself.

Several of us on this thread lost BBC channels last night too....I lost all channels once I rebooted the box This was in the Stockport area.

Only 400 affected last night?
I can't believe that only 400 people were affected last night with disrupted channels. Mine were off for quite a while, even Lost had a big gap in it!

Saying that the feed has a slight shake(jump) to it right now. yet the sky one logo does not move. Is this normal during simpsons. I don't watch it

Re: [Merged]Sky One fault 25/2/07.
If ex-TW and both ex-ntl feeds were affected (which seems likely, ex-TW here in London was wonky during Lost until I threatened the STB with remote violence) then it has to be something upstream (I'm presuming that a simultaneous identical snag in Bromley, Langley and Knowsley is near-impossible). We may have a shiny logo and a shiny name but it's still three platforms for us at the coalface.

Can you explain that thought?
If I saw a group of lads around my car one night and the following morning I discovered four slashed tyres does that mean that I know it was them?
|
I'm sorry mate, we shouldn't have to explain things to you, especially the dish thing. In some places Satellite dishes are banned which is why usualsuspect cannot have Sky - I know this anyway. People should NOT be forced to have a dish installed to get a damn channel.
As for the above quote I find that quite rude. A Virgin Media employee has told you that the feed coming into the Telewest network was distorted. He can't prove it because there is no way to get screen captures and audio captures from the equipment, but when you know that the Sky broadcast to the headend was distorted with AD I would be pretty damn sure that Sky were to blame. Why should a Virgin Media employee have to "explain themselves" to you? Why should a general member of the public have to "explain themselves" to you?
As for the slashed tyres comment, yes, you may see some kids around the car, but there is only one feed, one secure feed from Sky to Virgin Media - so because the feed is coming in from Sky, that would be the source, no?
On a side note and a last paragraph to try and wrench this thread back on topic, I'm ex-ntl Bromley and saw no problems with Sky One. There was slight distortion but was not really noticeable as I was watching on a 21" CRT, which is pretty good at hiding the distortion, but funny that it all went when the "Virgin Media is Crap" adverts came on...
Now arcamalpha, It's a bit of a large coincidence, don't you agree? Especially as the distortion was most noticeable during 24 and Lost.

Dont go off one at me pal!
I was asking genuine questions.
With regard the dish, the op stated that it was not practical for them to have a dish, in some people's opinion " not being practical " means " I dont like the look of "
The op had no problem with my questioning, and he/she explained about the planning permission, which explained it, as I said they had no issues with me asking, do not put your nose in.
Secondly, If VM personally feel there was some sabotage, there are avenues I am sure that they can take in complaining, otherwise they should put up or shut up.
Down the years NTL/VM have been plagued with problems, with regard the tv, but suddenly it all becomes someone else's fault.
So dont be going off on one at me pal.

Re: [Merged]Sky One fault 25/2/07.
Were NTL really that bad? I'm on the TW side and they've been nothing but gold with me for 4 years now. DSL, 100%, never failed. I think the TV went wrong once for a few hours a year or so back. But that's it.
Helpful tech support geeks too!

Not practical to "some people" may mean "don't like the look of", but to the majority of the population "Not Practical" means it's impossible, or at least VERY difficult!!
I put my nose in because the OP felt forced with your 3rd degree!!
Down the years, you should actually try using NTL/Telewest. I have been a cable customer for OVER 9 YEARS and have had ONE problem, which was sorted same day by the customer service.
I still think you are rude. Two posts and your replies are full of question marks.

Two posts? I suggest the following:
1..... Get those eyes checked, for one it will aid you to see how many posts I have made.
2..... If you checked my posts you would see that I have tried NTL/VM for tv, and it was not practical, in that money was going from my bank account under false pretences
Am I rude because I place a question mark after a question?
Funny how I was taught to always place one after a question.
You know very little about me, and in reality I about you, but to suggest I am rude, I think I will treat that one as it deserves.
