Digital Camera

I've just sold my old 5mp camera, and was wanting to get a new one, i've got a couple of new one's in mind like the Olympus MJU 700, but can anyone recommend me a really good one for £100 - don't really want to go over that, it's only for occasional use.

Re: Digital Camera

What's type of photos do you take? Do you need zoom functions?. How many photos might you take when you do use the camera?. Does it need to be very compact? Do you have any existing memory cards that might restrict make, or do you need to buy those as well within your £100 budget?

Re: Digital Camera

I can't recommend anything specific as I haven't bought a digital camera for a couple of years but If you need a review or pic samples of anything anyone recommends then have a butchers at this site.

Re: Digital Camera

A little over budget but I am currently saving for the new Kodak C875.
Currently in PC World for 120 notes.

Re: Digital Camera

I wanted it to be slim, thats what i liked about that olympus one and can get it for just over £100. I've got some SD cards already but will get another format if i need to, just really use the camera for eBay , but take if with me when i go somewhere so don't want to just get a cheap rubbish one. My old one was a samsung A5 and it was good, just quite chunky.

Will have a look through that site thanks.

Re: Digital Camera

Another site you can look at is here, their best buy section gives you a nice menu where you can look at sample pics, and other info. Some of them also give you links to uk retailers, although you may be able to do better at somewhere like pricerunner, for prices.

Re: Digital Camera

Just bought a Casio Exilim EX-Z70; very slim, 2.5" screen, 7.2mp, lots of features inc. anti-shake - works for me; only £130 from Asda (same price as ebuyer), inc case and 512mb SD card.

Here's a link to the review at dpreview.com.

Re: Digital Camera

I'm currently using a Pentax Optio E20 and I'm really happy with it. It was a late Christmas present from my OH (who'd originally bought a Vivitar camera that was kaplooey, didn't work and went mental one day and never worked properly after and it went back to where it came from... lol and the refund went straight into Jessops!) it's 6mp takes SD cards and it small enough and light enough to chuck in a bag when going out... I think they're around the £90 mark.... Failing that, if you're only gonna use it for eBay purposes, then I'd also have to recommend 'Concorde' - I had a 3.2mp camera and it was a joy to use... I gave mine to my mother for her birthday and she's loving it
(she's never used a digital camera before... and she's heading the right side of 70 )

Forget the megapixel count and go for the best optics you can get for the money.

Re: Digital Camera

For that sort of money you're not going to get much more than really basic models of camera's or older lines that are discontinued. No really good ones for you!

Optics are very important, a 5mp camera with decent optics will take a better picture than a poor one with 8mp.

The safest option is to go for a high mp camera with no optical zoom at all that way pictures will allways be in focus and you can make use of the high res for enlarging images.

I have the latest ixus from canon (900 series) and its an absolutly fantastic camera but is 2.5x your budget!
