Linksys models - the difference?
I'm about to purchase a Linksys wireless router to go with my new Virgin Media installation (as they are apparently the best value for money), however I'm not too sure what the difference is between some of the models. For example, the WRT54GSUK, WKPC54G, WRT54GL.
In practice, someone recommended I buy the WKPC54G, however when looking at the forums, the WRT54GSUK is one of the most recommended. The only difference I can see is that one has another antenna? :S
Can someone clear up for me and tell me the difference?
I'm hoping Linksys will work seamlessly with my USB Adapter. Can anyone confirm this, too?
Cheers.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
Not sure about the difference in models, they are probably only slightly different (just different features like QoS etc).
Either ways that USB adapter WILL work with either, I'm using that exact one on one of the computers in the house and it works with my WRT54GL.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
Ah, ok, thanks for the info about my adapter. Anyone got any ideas on router differences and the best one to buy however?

I've read through and compared the specs, can't find much difference. I'm leaning toward the WRT54GS if nobody can help me out and recommend which one I buy. 66 views and only one person has tried to help.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
It sounds stupid, but whats the difference between the WRT54GS and the WRT54GSUK? I mean, obviously United Kingdom, but surely won't both function in the UK?

I believe the UK one operates on more frequencies for the wireless, i've got the UK one.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
Go for the Linksys WRT54GSUK unless you want to flash the router with DD-WRT firmware.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
The UK variant adds channels 12 and 13 to the list i think, although it's been a while since i was near one... I would recommend the WRT54GSUK, the added "speedboost" probably won't affect you, however the router has more processing power and as such is faster than a standard WRT54G in operation.

Re: Linksys models - the difference?
The WKPC54G product includes a WRK54G router and laptop PCcard adapter, so unless you have a laptop with no wireless card then you don't want that. According to this page the WRK54G router is a stripped down WRT54G - stripped down doesn't usually mean improved, so I would avoid. Stick with the WRT54GSUK.
