3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
It appears that although I pay £30 pounds a month for a telewest package that no longer exists and the equivalent £30 package from virgin has additional TV channels and an improved phone service, I will not be moved to this package. Despite now paying virgin media my money.
Contacting cusomer services was everything I've come to expect from a call centre. Waited 45 mins to speak to someone, then told tough luck. You have to wait till your contract expires. Surely this cannot be right ?
Does anyone have any info on contacting customer services regarding this. The guy I spoke to said there had been quite a few calls about package upgrades not being passed on to existing customers.

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
The contract that you took out with Telewest was for the service you are receiving, for the price you are paying, so strictly speaking there is no requirement for you to be provided with the current deal.
However, it would be good customer service for Virgin to match you onto the new package.

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
Thanks for the reply. Its what I suspected.
From a customer services/satisfaction point of view its crap. From their business point of view it makes sense. Just the way it is I guess.
Never mind.

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
as far as im aware the new packages are available to anyone, regardless of how long they have had their services.
retention offers would be limited to people outside of the minimum term, i'd sugest giving CS another call

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
The new packs are avaliable to anyone new or existing. However, if you are an existing customer and wish to go on to a new pack there are few caveats.
If you have 2 out of the 3 services, you can only go onto the new packs if you take out another service. I.e. if you have Telco and Broadband you have to add TV, at which point you will be moved onto the new pack.
If you have all 3 services you have to upgrade a service I.E go from 2 for 4Mb broadband. Again at that point you will changed onto the new bundle pricing

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
looking at my spanking new virginmedia bill received over the weekend - I'm very confused. I was under the impression I was on 3 for £30, with add ons like skysports, and a handful of discounts... ok. now, it appears I'm on BB M, TV XL, and talk weekends. with skysports. bill is approximately £66 excluding discounts, phone calls and £5 non dd charge. not that I'm complaining!

That's what I was told, but I told them I'm not paying £40.50 for the same package that others are getting for £30.
The secret is not to ask, but to insist.

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
I already had all 3 services (4Mb BB, TV and Phone line) and was paying £50 per month.
I rang CS yesterday and asked to be put on the 3 for 30 tariff but keep my 4Mb BB. I was told that this wasn't a problem and i would get more TV channels, free weekend phone calls for a reduction in price.
I now pay £38 per month for better services.

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
I'm really confused with all this new "bundled" pricing, we currently have TV size L, = £22.50, 2mb broadband = £18 and phone which is on average £22 a month all this adds up to £62.50,we've been with ntl for years and never changed anything, but I reckon we could save on our phone bills, can someone advice how we can save money on this new pricing as Ive looked on the website & got totally lost !

Just check the website and find the package that is close to what you have now, then simply phone CS and ask to be switched to that package.
It worked for me with a saving of £10 per month with more TV channels

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
You should be getting tv xl for the price you are paying and your phone should not be £22 a month (unless you have a package or including calls in that price) give them a ring tomorrow

Not on a package, and the phone bill is including calls (nowhere on the phone bill does it state what the standing charge is ? ) Will get the husband to call them tomorrow & see if we can get a better deal

As long as you insist nicely. I would like to point out though, that if you did upgrade a service to get the new pricing, you only have to keep the change for 30 days. Probably a lot less insisting too

Re: 3 for 30 not upgraded after merger
I'm thining of ditching our landline now that it is not necessarily tied to TV. At the moment we have BB 2 or 4Mb, not sure, TV: size L, and a phone package that doesn't exist now on Virgin: Talk Unlimited Local. for £34 a month.
I would like to switch to the 2 for £20, BB 2Mb and TV: L.
But it seems I can only go to one of those packages if I upgrade, which seems a bit rubbish.
I could get one of these:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=125316
and a Skype In account for £30/year and have no need for a landline at all.
Even if I wanted to keep the line in theory I could knock 4 pounds off my monthly bill with the 3 for £30
Has anyone else managed to go to one of those packages by downgrading?
T.
