[Merged] Virgin Media & Fuel too?
Looks like Richard Branson wants to have your gas and electricity go through your media services bill aswell, actually thinking about it, it does sound really cool. keep everything in one bill I would be up for it.

Re: Wtf Virgin Electric and Gas?
LOL That does actually sound quite good, but it will be at least a couple more years before we start to see different services included in one bill.

Re: Wtf Virgin Electric and Gas?
This is nothing new. I recall Branson saying about 10-15 years ago that he wanted Virgin to provide utilities to the home. He basically wants a Virgin branded product in all areas of industry and with trains, planes, holidays, financial services, telecoms/media etc he's well on the way of achieving his goal.
I'm surprised that the first few posters seem so keen on this. Would people really want all services/products from one company? The information that the company would hold on individuals would be scary and open to abuse and not something that I would personally welcome.

It would be a huge advantage to have all of your services from one provider, the chance that they would give you bonus stuff just having lots of stuff them would be cool.

My (limited) understanding of Virgin Energy is that it wasn't really a utility/energy provider. Virgin Energy was using the services of another energy company. Virgin just provided a internet access portal to a customers accounts, but didn't provide customer services or even buy electricity or gas. So in other words, it was a complete waste of time and that's probably why Branson sold out. But don't really know much about it. Not all Branson ventures are successful - eg Virgin Cola etc...

We had Virgin home energy for duel fuel. It was keenly priced and customer services were excellent. I was disappointed when they sold it all to EDF.
However as a mere user I couldn't say where they were getting my gas and electricity from!

Well, I think you answered your own query there. I would think Virgin got the energy off EDF, though it used to be London Electricity back then, wasn't it?
Perhaps now that Branson has a link into a potential 50% of homes via "his" cable network, he might be more confident of getting back into this sector again. It's not as if Virgin will have to produce gas/electricity or maintain networks, that would be the Grid and Transco. All he's got to do is buy the stuff wholesale off the market and resell it to customers and provide the billing/customer services part of it.
By the way, there is still a Virgin company dealing in energy called Virgin Fuels. They deal with green fuels, but I don't know whether they sell that to residential customers or not. Is there anything that Branson doesn't get involved in? If he had the money he would buy Tescos no doubt!
