I think the black EPG looks much smarter.

Mine hasn't been updated yet, but from the pics on their website I like the new EPG more.

It does look smarter, but it is not as easy to read. I wonder why they don't use black on white which is always easier to read, as we use on this forum

You can go into the settings menu and select alternative EPG which is black on white.

yeah but that's only for the mini guide - I think it looks really crude - sort of like old style Teletext graphics - mustard yellow and black? Hardly subtle design. I'm hoping it gets a redesign personally. I do much prefer the list style layout though

HHHmm - I'm glad everyone is different.
You'd hate my desktop - which is all Black/Yellow.
As for the new epg - well I think it'll grow on people. People are just averse to change.
I find it much easier to read than any other one I've seen.

Just some food for thought (about the new clour of guide supposedly not being easy to read).
The menu provided by ntl: for those with sight difficulties to make the menu easier to read is white writing on black background.
Studies YEARS and YEARS ago showed that the easiest colour combinations of chalk and chalkboards for children to read was yellow chalk on black boards.

Re: I don't like the black virgin menu & epg
The EPG is yellow and black anyway, so presumably virgin have taken that into account. However, there may be some sight impaired people who find it easier to read black on white. I think it is a great thing that ntl have provided both

Indeed - most (normaly sighted) people find my yellow/black combination on my desktop and cctv magnifier appalling to look at, but it's what's best for the individual, and I certainly appreciate the options that Virgin offer me
edit - added picture of my cctv magnifier running to show what I mean...

And this Chris is with....erm, Chris.
Was never a fan of the 3x3 box interface. The Virgin software looks more professional and IMO, has a distinct look to it which is better than the rather bland LCR3 software.

I think the black looks good, also flicking thru the EPG is really fast now , I also like how when you have the EPG on screen you can input the channel number you are interested in watching and the epg shows that info but the channel your watching doesnt change, if you get my drift
