Re: 20Mbps News?

I attended a meeting last week in which they did said we have tested successfully 100mb.

No roll out date, but the system works.

During IBC, Pace and BigBand Networks will be demonstrating the results of their collaborative efforts consistent with DOCSIS 3.0 specifications, which will show downstream rates in excess of 100Mbps for the delivery of broadband and video data. The demonstration consists of the BigBand Cuda(r) CMTS (cable modem termination system) and a prototype Pace channel bonded DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem
"Furthermore, DOCSIS 3.0 also incorporates support for the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), which greatly expands the number of Internet addresses that cable operators can use. This, in conjunction with the far greater broadband speeds (up to 160Mbps downstream and up to 120Mbps upstream), will enable more IP-based services to be offered to consumers."

Re: 20Mbps News?

adsl2+ really should be classed as 16mbit l commend bulldog and sky for doing this, whilst it can reach 24mbit it is very rare and most people achieving above 16mbit usually do it by squeezing their snr margins to low levels.

You are mistaken.

I can quite happily get 20mb with a SNR of 6.5. And as it stands my SNR is 2.5 and my synce speed is 23.5mb

Re: 20Mbps News?

you are one of those people who think it happens to me so it must be common, do some research and you will find over 16mbit is rare. Bulldog and sky arent capped to 16mbit there is a very good reason they marketing it as 16mbit.

Also to add atm has a heavy overheads penalty, you would need a synch speed of 18mbit+ to even get 16mbit tcp speeds. So on a normal snr margin of 6.5db (6 considered the lowest for stable connection by every isp I know off) your tcp throughput would be around 18mbit.

I don't know, the 20mb trial wasn't really publicised but speeds of 50mb was.
