Exclamation No Burn - No Floppy

My Girlfriends PC wont burn media, if its a floppy or DVD it doesnt let her do it.

The DVD Rom works, she can get info off disks but wont let her put info on a disk.

We thought of maybe it was types of disk used, but she has tried a few makes, also she used Nero and a few others with no success.

Whats making me think is that because of the floppy not working it would be the cables, but this has been checked as well.

I dont know what to suggest to her, 2 devices that wont save data, must be a problem somewhere but what could cause it?

She also deleted a few programs thinking they were doing it, again nothing.

Well she aint daft its prolly DVD RW. I darent ask if she has checked if the floppy is not write protected, she will kill me, but i will ask her.

I dont think this is the problem though, she knows a bit about computers so i cant see her overlooking this.

Funnily enough, I just had that conversation with a friend who is the local go to guy for PC's. He couldn't work out why Nero didn't see his DVD-ROM drive, until I pointed out that Nero is looking for drives that are burn capable. The moral is always look at the obvious first, it'll save a lot of heartache in the end.
